Approved Meeting Minutes

The seventh meeting of the working group was held on September 12^th, 2000 at the ADTRANZ offices at the Pittsburgh International Airport.

General Notes

The next working group meeting will be on December 5th and 6th at Safetran in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. It is suggested that everyone fly into the Ontario airport. D. Edgecomb-Cope is to provide hotel information to the group.

Team members did not report any progress on the assignments from the May 31^st, June 1^st meeting. All assignments MUST be completed and sent to P. Jamieson by November 20^th in preparation for the December meeting.

P. Jamieson stated that Transit Agencies will be required to use recognized standards published by standards organizations in order to get funding for transit activities.

It was suggested that all examples included within the standard (P1588) should be placed in the informative annex. All examples should be transit related and not generic.

The Introduction to the standard should include:

· Describe the process we went through in developing the standard

· Reason why the standard is necessary

· Describe the benefits of using this standard

Our standard (P1588) will focus on content as the priority and will also provide organization of content.

The language of P1588, will state that the vendor is to perform a specific task, such as requirements analysis, however a process will not dictated. The artifacts of that process will be described within our standard, but not the processes themselves.

The team expressed their reluctance to use J-STD-16, since it is in trial-use. The fear was that P1588 would be written around a standard that has not yet been implemented on any projects. L.S. Boehmer will follow-up on this action item with the Standard Committee – Dennis Bodson.

It was stated that IEEE standard 730 – SQAP is a good outline for a software documentation standard.

L. Karr is to incorporate M. Cloutier’s diagram and table into the outline of P1588.
