Family Digital Citizenship Resources

The resources we recommend have been designed, researched and vetted by the top universities in our country. Our goal is to support and educate our students, staff, and parents on our ever-changing digital world. The content of this page will change, so please keep checking back.

We recommend Common Sense Media For Parents website. At the top of the page, click For Parents.  Common Sense is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive and be future ready. The green bar gives you specific information on Movies & TV Shows, Books, Apps, Games & Websites, Advice for Parents, Latino, Research and About Us.

Connecting to and using the Internet at home is very different from using it within the school district. Thompson offers a filtered Internet experience. Thus we recommend The Smart Talk for parents. Smart Talk offers parents and students a forum for discussions. They also offer Family Agreement documents, which can be signed by parent and children.

Partnership is Key

While filters do a great job of catching unsafe content, no system can catch everything.

Our teachers are trained to set clear expectations and actively monitor student activity in the classroom.

We ask families to partner with us at home by:

  • Talking regularly with your child about what they see and do online
  • Encouraging them to ask questions if they come across anything confusing or inappropriate
  • Helping them choose trustworthy websites and apps
  • Modeling safe and respectful online behavior

Keeping Students Safe Online

Help Your Child Become a Safe Digital Citizen

You play a powerful role in your child’s online safety. By guiding their habits, setting limits, and checking in regularly, you help them build the skills they need to navigate the digital world confidently and responsibly.
