School Based Enterprise (5126,5127)

Credit: 1.0 Applied Arts/CTE

This course introduces students to a school-based enterprise (SBE), an entrepreneurial operation within a school that provides goods or services to meet market needs. Managed and operated by students, SBEs serve as hands-on learning laboratories, offering realistic experiences that reinforce classroom instruction. Products may include spirit wear, food and beverages, school supplies, signs, banners, and more. A major component of the course is the successful management and operation of the school store. Students will enhance their knowledge of SBE operations and management through learning modules covering core concepts in a blended learning environment. Developed by DECA, this course is taught at high schools nationwide using DECA's model, expectations, and scope and sequence.
