EB, Environmental and Safety Program
The Board of Education believes that safety education and accident prevention are important to everyone involved with our schools and should be integrated into every aspect of our work activity. All employees of the District are responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work place and insuring that safety precautions and practices are followed.
The Superintendent shall appoint a Safety and Loss Control Committee to oversee the safety program. This committee shall establish minimum site safety standards for schools; design and maintain a comprehensive safety inspection and reporting process that includes annual site safety assessments; formulate recommendations to alleviate unsafe conditions or practices including barriers to adequate supervision; recommend and initiate appropriate training and injury prevention programs, recognize individuals, schools and departments for demonstrating excellent safety practices and report to the Superintendent at least annually.
The committee is to meet no less than four times per school year. Committee membership shall be comprised of representatives of major segments of the school community such as, principals, administrators, maintenance, custodial, nutritional services, physical education, health services and transportation representatives. Interested non-district people with relevant experience could also be included.
