Superintendent Search
Thompson School District is conducting a search for a new Superintendent to succeed Dr. Marc Schaffer, who will depart on June 30, 2025, to assume a superintendent position in Illinois.
To facilitate this transition, the Board of Education has engaged McPherson & Jacobson, a national school superintendent search firm, to assist in identifying the most qualified candidates.
As part of this process, the Board conducted an anonymous online survey to gather stakeholder input, which remained open through March 12, 2025. The survey is now closed, and the final report of the survey results is available for review.
The Thompson School District Board of Education has selected three candidates to interview for the district's superintendent position:
- Dr. Bret Heller, School Town of Munster, Munster, IN
- Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza, Jeffco Public Schools, Golden, CO
- Dr. Douglas Van Zyl, SitelogIQ, Lakeville, MN
