School Resources

When considering a new digital resource (free or paid, app or web-based) it’s imperative that teachers and schools look at what student data, if any, will be provided to the vendor and whether or not the vendor is committed to protecting the data as required under FERPA and the Colorado Student Data Transparency and Security Act.

The following resources are available to help teachers, staff, and administrators evaluate and select digital resources that appropriately protect student data.

LTP Provided iOS Apps

Before using, or requesting a download or purchase of a new app, check this list to see if it's been approved or if we already have an app that provides the same – or similar – functionality as the new app under consideration.

Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreement

It’s highly recommended that schools obtain a CNDA with any Provider that will have access to student data, through the creation of accounts or any other means. Current agreements and contracts reviewed by Colorado Department of Education.

Sending Secure Data Using Encrypted Attachments

Sending student personally identifiable information (PII) in the body of an email, or with an un-encrypted attachment is not a safe practice. This document (coming soon) provides simple instructions for encrypting attachments that may be included in email messages sent to vendors. Note that delivering Student PII via Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) is the preferred method when available.
