The Department of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

supports TSD's Strategic Plan: Strive 2025 in all four areas:

1) Student Achievement

2) Inclusive and Supportive Culture

3) Human Talent

4) Stewardship of Resources

Each activity below is connected to a Desired Outcome found in the Strategic Plan and is noted in parenthesis.

Some of EDI's activities include:

  • Provide professional learning opportunities at New Teacher Orientation, TENS Week, English Learner PD Pathway (Approved by Colorado Department of Education), Classified Staff Training, and EC-12 Principal, Assistant Principal, and Learning Services Senior Leadership Trainings (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

  • Facilitate Thompson Educational Equity Council (TEEC) and Student Educational Equity Council (SEEC) (2.3, 2.4, 2.5)

  • Create resources to increase access of TSD families to their children’s learning (2.3)

  • Support diverse student programming (2.3, 2.4) such as Latinos Unified in Community (LUC) and Unified Sports

  • Enact the Educational Equity Policy (2.5) through the continued implementation of the TSD Educational Equity Framework and the development of the District's Five-year Equity Implementation Plan

  • Implement an evidence-based culturally responsive staff retention strategy (3.1, 3.2, 3.3)

  • Support historically underserved students with access and opportunity to visit college campuses (1.3, 4.1, 4.2)

The EDI Department shares TSD’s commitment to ensuring equity, access, and opportunity for EACH student while recognizing, honoring, and respecting EACH student as a whole child.
