What is Social Emotional Learning?

"Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions." (Definition from: The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning: CASEL)

How can SEL help my child?

Social-emotional skills are the strategies one has for managing strong emotions, navigating relationships, working effectively with others, solving difficult problems, and making responsible decisions. Essentially, social-emotional skills pave the way for positive life experiences.
