School of Choice
Thompson School District has a learning environment for all students.
Welcome to the Thompson School District! While every student has a guaranteed seat at their neighborhood boundary school, families may explore other options. The application process varies by your residence and the time of year.
Please review Board Policies — JFBA and JFBA-R for Choice Enrollment and JFBB and JFBB-R for Open Enrollment — for complete details.

How it Works
Both Choice Enrollment and Open Enrollment follow a simple three-step process.
Three-Step Choice Enrollment Process
-
Step 1
Complete and submit the choice enrollment application. You should receive a confirmation email with additional information.
-
Step 2
Thompson School District reviews applications and includes eligible applications in a lottery. You will receive an email with the status of your application.
-
Step 3
If offered a seat, families must accept the seat within five business days.
Three-Step Open Enrollment Process
-
Step 1
Complete and submit the open enrollment application. You should receive a confirmation email with additional information.
-
Step 2
Applications are processed by priority grouping in the order received when no resident students remain on the desired school’s waitlist.
-
Step 3
If offered a seat, families must accept the seat within five business days.
