Volunteer Safety and Security Training
Thompson School District (TSD) has addressed safety and security concerns in schools through many different methods. One of the ways TSD helps mitigate situations that may arise and affect the safety of our students, staff, and volunteers is through what is called the Standard Response Protocol. These are procedures that are followed in emergency situations.
Each protocol addresses a different type of emergency. As a volunteer, you need to be aware of these protocols and what to do in each situation so that you can help keep students safe and calm.
When an emergency situation arises, any staff member can make an announcement on the intercom or prompt another staff member to make an announcement on the intercom to initiate one of the following protocols: hold, secure, lockdown, evacuate, or shelter.
When you hear one of these words announced over the intercom, please follow the instructions for adults that are listed in the standard response protocol procedures.
