LHS Student Council Named Activity Team of the Year

The Board of Education honored the Loveland High School Student Council team, which was recently selected as the 2021-2022 "Les Schwab Activity Team of the Year," co-sponsored by the Colorado High School Activities Association. The student council team was officially presented with their award in a ceremony at Empower Field at Mile High.
TSD Seniors Being Awarded Seals of Biliteracy

Thompson School District is awarding 14 Thompson Seals of Biliteracy and 44 Colorado Seals of Biliteracy to graduating seniors across the district. The Seals of Biliteracy will be awarded in French, German, Spanish, Danish, Swedish, Mandarin Chinese and Arabic. TSD has been awarding Seals of Biliteracy since 2018 and, in total, 274 seals have been presented in a variety of languages. The Seal of Biliteracy is a credential that is given by a school, district or state in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by the time of their high school graduation.
Elementary Students Excel at TSD Chess Tournament

Over sixty K-5 students participated in Thompson School District’s Elementary Chess Tournament. Players in each division completed five rounds in a round-robin style tournament. The top competitors were:
--Kindergarten/1st Grade Division: Taylor Way - Ivy Stockwell Elementary School; and Wilde Rae - Truscott Elementary School.
--2nd/3rd Grade Division: Sawyer Thompson - New Vision Charter School; Mark O'Brien - Ivy Stockwell Elementary School; Cole Wheeler - Ponderosa Elementary School; Jackson Winter - Centennial Elementary School; Rebekah Brown - Ivy Stockwell Elementary School; and Grant Bozic - Coyote Ridge Elementary School.
--4th/5th Grade Division: Greyson Abadie - Coyote Ridge Elementary School; Solomon Chappell – Coyote Ridge Elementary School; Isaac Ng - Loveland Classical Schools; and Carter Hendricks - Coyote Ridge Elementary School.
TMS Student Receives Awards at Colorado Science & Engineering Fair

Turner Middle School 6th grader Jacob Kossler competed in the Junior Engineering category at the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair held at Colorado State University. Kossler’s project, “Laminar or Turbulent Flow,” was one of 215 projects on display at the state competition. Kossler received the following awards:
--Pioneers of Science Awards “Francis Arnold Award”
--American Institute of Chemical Engineers “Excellence in Chemical Engineering Award”
--American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics “Aeronautics and Astronautics Award”
--American Vacuum Society “Excellence in Physical Sciences & Engineering Award”
--Lockheed Martin “Aerospace Award”

Thompson Education Foundation awarded the 2022 Educator of the Year Awards to Thompson School District staff at the Trailblazing Thompson event at Embassy Suites Loveland.
TSD Staff Member of the Year: Noah Tank, School Tech Facilitator, Ponderosa Elementary School
Principal of the Year: Jane Harmon, Principal, Mountain View High School
Elementary Teacher of the Year: Dean Book, 5th Grade Teacher, Ivy Stockwell Elementary School
Secondary Teacher of the Year: Karla Quinones, Dramatic Arts Teacher, Bill Reed Middle School
Thompson Education Foundation Educator of the Year: Peter Toews, Band & Orchestra Teacher, Mountain View High School
Coyote Ridge Wins Annual Math Square Off

More than 30 Thompson School District students competed in three rounds of math problems at the 5th Annual Math Square Off. Coyote Ridge Elementary School won the traveling trophy for 2022. Other schools that participated were Carrie Martin Elementary School, Winona Elementary School, Cottonwood Plains Elementary School, Riverview PK-8 and High Plains School.
TVHS Student Receives a Boettcher Scholarship

Kelly Clingan from Thompson Valley High School was named a Boettcher Scholarship recipient. The Boettcher Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition and partial living expenses merit-based academic scholarship awarded to graduating Colorado high school students. Award recipients, on average, rank in the top 2% of their graduating classes and have an average SAT score of about 1400.
LEMS Receives No Place For Hate Award

Lucile Erwin Middle School was awarded the 2021-2022 No Place For Hate Excellence Award. It was presented to them by the Mountain States Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League for working to create an inclusive and respectful school community. No Place for Hate® is a self-directed program helping all members of school communities combat bias and bullying as a means to stop the escalation of hate.
LHS Student Receives Daniels Scholarship

Nelly Mulenga from Loveland High School has been awarded a Daniels Scholarship. The Daniels Scholarship Program offers a comprehensive, four-year college scholarship that provides financial and personal support focused on helping Daniels Scholars succeed in college and in life. The Daniels Scholarship can be used at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States.
TSD Staff Member Receives Multicultural Educator Award

The National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) awarded Dr. Maria Gabriel, TSD's Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, with the G. Pritchy Smith Multicultural Educator Award. The NAME Awards provide national and international recognition of individuals, groups and institutions that make outstanding contributions toward multicultural education, educational equity and social justice.
